Here’s how to download Microsoft Indic Language Input Tool for Hindi, Marathi, Gujarathi, Oriya, Telugu or any other Indian language for Windows 10 64-bit PC.
It has been a tedious process trying to find a workable input tool for Hindi or other Indian languages for particularly Windows 10 PC. It is mainly because the default Windows built-in indic input tool for Indian languages do not work as intended. The software closest to what we were looking for is Google Hindi Input Tools. However, this tool no longer support Windows 10. Well, fortunately, there is an alternative to it and it works well.
Microsoft Indic language input tool Download for Windows 10 64-bit
Microsoft Indic Language Input Tool download will work on Windows 10 64-bit, despite the download was originally made for Windows 8 and Windows 7. It supports Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Oriya, Telugu, Assamese, Nepali, and Odia input tool.
Besides, Microsoft Indic Language Input Tool also provides a visual keyboard to help you with editing words that do not transliterate correctly.
There are two main software which you will need to download and install in order to for the input tool to work – Microsoft Indic Language Input Tool (ILIT) and Indic Input 3. Here’s the correct sequential steps to download and install them.
Firstly, open this page. Under Microsoft Indic Language Input Tool (ILIT), select your desired Indian language, for example Hindi, then click on the Download button. After the download is completed, run the Microsoft Indic Language Input Tool setup for Hindi to install it.
Next, go back to the same download page again. Under Indic Input 3, beside Hindi (or other Indian languages of your choice), click on Download for Windows 8 64-bit. Don’t worry, this will also work on Windows 10 64-bit. Run the setup to install it.
After both installations are successfully completed, you can then switch to Hindi Indic Input 3 by pressing Alt + Shift to toggle to it, or by clicking on the language preference icon on your Windows 10 taskbar.
If you install Microsoft Indic Language Input Tool for Marathi or Gujarathi, it will show up as Marathi Indic Input 3 or Gujarathi Indic Input 3 respectively. If you don’t see the input tool, you may need to restart your computer for the installation to take effect.

If the input tool doesn’t show up after downloading and installing them as outlined above, it may imply that the language pack wasn’t installed on your Windows 10. A language pack is needed for Windows to recognize the words of the languages and allow users to interact with applications such as the input tool in that language.
So, for example, if you were installing Microsoft Indic Language Input Tool for Hindi, you will need to add and install the Hindi language pack on Windows 10. Here’s how to do it.
